The Selwyn Foundation is an independent, New Zealand registered charity that has led the way in improving the quality of life of seniors since 1954. Our heritage and years of experience put us in a unique position, and we’re a highly respected and trusted provider of services for older people.

Our Selwyn Village site in Auckland’s western suburb of Point Chevalier is situated on 26 acres of prime land overlooking the Waitematā Harbour. It’s a vibrant community that includes modern independent living apartments and villas, three care homes (one of which incorporates a dedicated, secure dementia care household) as well as a community day centre for people with mild to moderate dementia.

Aside from the expert care and support services we provide for our residents at Selwyn Village, our charitable outreach and social impact investment work on behalf of vulnerable older people living in the wider community is very much our main focus. Indeed, our Charitable Mission is the Foundation’s prime reason for being. Selwyn’s charitable activities are focused on delivering practical assistance to the increasing numbers of older people who are facing extreme difficulties in areas such as loneliness and social isolation, financial hardship, access to affordable housing, and spiritually. As we say here at Selwyn – to care for older people, you have to care about them – and we demonstrate this through the many forms of charitable support we provide at grass-roots level in local communities.  

Guiding us in all our work is The Selwyn Way, our unique approach to the care and wellbeing of all who connect with us. The Selwyn Way puts the individual at the centre of everything we do, it informs and guides us in how we treat others, showing respect, courtesy, care and consideration at all times, and is underpinned by the Faith and Tikanga principles inherent in our Constitution.
