We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Clinical Manager to lead our Ivan Ward Centre at Selwyn Village. This is a significant leadership role within an integrated retirement village, overseeing a 96‑bed hospital and rest home service, including 18 dedicated dementia‑care beds.
About the Role
As Clinical Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and operational management of the centre. You will lead a multidisciplinary clinical and care team to deliver high‑quality, resident‑centred care while ensuring clinical excellence, compliance, financial sustainability and a positive workplace culture.
You will work closely with village leadership, clinical quality teams, residents, families and external providers to ensure outstanding outcomes for those in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible, values‑based clinical and operational leadership to nursing and care teams
- Lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of resident care across hospital, rest home and dementia levels
- Champion a partnership approach to care planning with residents, families and EPOAs
- Oversee clinical governance, quality improvement programmes and risk management
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, legislative and accreditation requirements
- Manage admissions, InterRAI assessments, care plans and reviews
- Lead, coach and develop senior nurses, registered nurses and caregivers
- Manage staffing, rosters, leave, performance reviews and professional development
- Work collaboratively with doctors, allied health professionals and external providers
- Support financial management through effective workforce and resource oversight
- Model and promote strong health and safety leadership
- Participate in the on‑call RN roster and provide relief for the Village Manager when required
About You
You will be a confident, compassionate and experienced nurse leader who is committed to excellence in aged residential care. You thrive in complex environments, build strong relationships, and are passionate about developing people and improving outcomes for residents.
You will have:
- Current NZ registration as a Registered Nurse
- Proven experience managing a large aged‑care facility
- Strong knowledge of NZ aged‑care legislation, compliance and risk management
- Demonstrated clinical leadership with experience supporting complex care needs
- Sound business and financial management acumen
- A collaborative, coaching leadership style
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in gerontology
- Post‑graduate qualification (desirable)
